If you are like any of the many international students that have come through our door, you would have scoured the internet looking for the best places to train. Among your possible choices would have been the U.S, Europe, Australia, and Canada.

Comparing all these places, Canada offers a big aviation community with high standards at a quarter of the price, literally. Flight training in the U.S. can cost up to twice the price and Europe and Australia can cost up to 4 times more.

Canada is an International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) member state. That means the licence you earned in Canada is recognised and can be converted to your home country’s licence easily. In fact, the ICAO headquarter is right here in Canada so you know the standard is good. For a glimpse of aviation in Canada, check out award-winning TV series like Ice Pilots NWT and Wings over Canada.

Living expenses is also cheaper in Canada. The favourable exchange rate between Canada and the other countries with established aviation communities makes your money go further here. (1CAD: 0.74 USD; 0.69 Euro; 0.61 GBP; 0.98 AUD)

In Manitoba where we are based, an international student can live off less than $1000CAD per month – rent, food and mobile phone included!
